GYROTONIC® AND GYROKINESIS® CERTIFICATION PROCESS
STEP ONE: DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
Anyone interested in teaching these methods must begin the process by establishing a regular Gyrotonic practice and experiencing the transformative benefits of the system. Thus, the first step in either GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® certification is to develop a personal practice in that method that cultivates your personal understanding of and appreciation for the work. Prospective teachers benefit from regular and intensive private or group instruction on the Gyrotonic apparatus and in Gyrokinesis classes for at least six months. CORE offers a variety of session formats to fit your schedule and your budget.
STEP TWO: PRE-TRAINING
COURSES
The second step in Gyrotonic certification or Gyrokinesis certification is taking a pre-training course to develop the knowledge necessary to work independently in the sytem. The pre-training process is open to those who intend to pursue teacher training and to those who simply want to deepen their understanding of the Gyrotonic or Gyrokinesis systems.
This intensive six-day (for Gyrokinesis
pre-training) or nine-day (for Gyrotonic pre-training) course reviews all
material in the Level I curriculum, insuring that each student understands the
purpose, intent and execution of the exercises. The course is focused on
deepening the participant’s knowledge of the mechanics and philosophies of the
system. At the end of the course, each participant should be able to
guide him/herself through a full Gyrotonic or Gyrokinesis workout without
supervision.
After completing the pre-training, students are eligible to book time in the studio for independent workouts. CORE schedules a small group Pre-Training Course in each method at least once per year, and pre-trainers are available on an ongoing basis to schedule one-on-one pre-training.

STEP THREE: FOUNDATION COURSES
The third step in the
certification process is the Foundation Course. This nine-day (for Gyrokinesis
certification) or 12-day (for Gyrotonic certification) course shifts from
perfecting the individual practice of the method to teaching participants how
to teach their clients. Through this course, participants learn the
“exercise families”, the progressions for layering in the exercises, and
handholds and cuing to facilitate the client experience with the work.
At the end of this course,
apprentice teachers can start teaching sessions to clients in order to practice
their teaching skills. CORE offers foundation courses for Gyrotonic and
Gyrokinesis certifications at least once annually.
STEP FOUR: APPRENTICE REVIEW COURSES
After spending several months working with clients, apprentice teachers take an apprentice review course with a Master Trainer to further refine their teaching, ask questions and discuss issues that have come up during the apprentice teaching process, and prepare for their final certification in Miami or Germany. CORE offers Apprentice Reviews at least once annually.
STEP FIVE:
CERTIFICATION COURSE
Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis certification weekends are held periodically in Miami Beach and Germany.
