Essentials Classes

CORE’s Essentials program focuses on the purest form of each of the techniques we teach – Pilates Mat and GYROKINESIS®. Our essentials classes offer an affordable way to develop a strong foundation in each of the methods.

CORE Basics – Pilates Mat

Buckhead/Westside

New to Pilates? Check out this introduction to the method. In this class, you will learn the fundamental principles that underpin the method and how to work within your body safely and effectively. You will use small props like the foam roller to help develop your basic core stability so you can hit the ground running when you enter our Advanced Beginner mat class. Small classes and CORE’s focus on the individual provides you an opportunity to receive personalized feedback about how CORE can best meet your fitness goals. (10 person maximum)

Advanced Beginner Pilates Mat

Westside

If you have some limited experience with the Pilates method, or if you are new to the method and are taking both private and group classes, the Advanced Beginner class is for you. After five to ten sessions, you will be able to move through the entire beginning mat sequence without stopping. Many clients will take the advanced beginning class for six months or more in order to develop a solid foundation before moving up to the Intermediate level. Prior Pilates experience or permission of the instructor is required in order to join this class. (10 person maximum)

Intermediate Pilates Mat

Westside

In the intermediate class, you will cover more Pilates mat exercises at a faster pace than the advanced beginning class. You will likely take the intermediate class for an extended period, laying the groundwork for advancing to the most challenging exercises in the method. Prior Pilates experience or permission of the instructor is required in order to join this class. (10 person maximum)

Mixed-Level Pilates Mat

Westside

Have some Pilates experience and just need a class that fits your schedule? Come to a mixed-level class for an invigorating, fun workout tailored to your skill level. This class requires prior Pilates experience. (10 person maximum)

CORE Basic Stretch

Buckhead

Stretching is an important part of any fitness program, but is probably the most neglected. Regular, controlled stretching improves flexibility, mobility, can help correct poor posture, relieves pain, and reduces the risk of injury. In addition, stretching relaxes the body and helps reduce stress.

The CORE Basics Stretch class begins with some basic pre-pilates exercises to warm up the spine, arms and legs. Small props such as the blue disc, therabands, foam roller and ball are used in the pre-pilates portion of the class. After the initial warm up, the class moves into a more traditional form of stretching which focuses on stretching every muscle group of the body. Make stretching an integral part of your fitness program!

GYROKINESIS® (Various Levels)

Buckhead/Westside

Gyrokinesis® methodology is a yoga-based movement system created by Juliu Horvath, who drew on principles from ballet, swimming, gymnastics, tai chi and acupressure to create this full body workout. Exercises incorporate breath work and all seven elements of spinal movement to systematically stretch and strengthen the body. The rhythmic, fluid movements provide a great workout. You will leave your class feeling longer, stronger, relaxed and invigorated. (10 person maximum)
