Posture Alignment Therapy

Posture alignment involves a regimen using specific stretches, exercises and positions designed to bring your body back into proper alignment so it may function correctly, efficiently, and ultimately free of pain.

The body needs "design" motion daily.  When it is deprived of it, the body becomes posturally dysfunctional.  This affects the whole structure leading to a spiraling of muscular imbalances, compensations, and abnormal wear and tear causing pain.

Misalignment can also affect the performance of other bodily systems including cardiovascular, digestive, and respiratory and affect their ability to function properly. Improving your posture can correct misalignment that causes pain, help prevent further structural damage, and provide a solid musculoskeletal foundation to build your body and mind.

Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, outward pointing feet, slouched upper back, and many other posture dysfunctions can be fixed.

Who Benefits From Posture Alignment Therapy?

Posture alignment therapy can successfully address and eliminate pain associated with carpal tunnel, herniated discs, migraine headaches, back pain, neck pain, knee pain, scoliosis, effects of dislocated joints, shoulder problems, and many other health issues. An individual who has experienced either some sort of trauma and/or surgery will also benefit from this therapy. A properly aligned body will heal faster than a body with layers of dysfunction.Posture Alignment Therapy at CORE Atlanta

Posture alignment is not only for those individuals in pain, however. It is also being used by professional athletes looking for an edge and anyone who wants to limit the effects of aging through superior symmetrical postural health. Other benefits include improved posture and mobility, increased energy, stress reduction, proper breathing and weight loss.

How Does the Therapy Work?

Posture alignment therapy works to restore the body’s correct anatomical position by utilizing specific stretches and functional exercises. The goal is to correctly realign the eight load-bearing joints of the body (shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles) like a well structured sky scraper to restore optimum function.

The sessions are one on one in which the client is taken through a series of functional and gait analysis tests to determine their muscular compensations and structural dysfunctions.  From there an individualized exercise program or "menu" is designed by the therapist and the remainder of the session is done performing the exercises in their order.  The client leaves with a detailed computerized printout of their menu of exercises to be done on their own a minimum of 4 times a week to see change in their posture.

After 1-2 weeks (to be determined by the therapist) the clients posture is re-evaluated and their menu is either adjusted or changed according to how their body is adapting to the stimulus given. Postural dysfunction(s) were not created overnight nor are they removed over night. The body needs positive repetitive stimulus in order to create change, therefore, an 8 visit package is highly recommended.
